Plant communities of Hutcheson Memorial Forest based on shrub distribution.

Hutcheson Forest is located on the gently rolling Piedmont of New Jersey. It is an old oak forest which has been preserved with relatively little disturbance. The objectives of this study are threefold: (1) to prepare a map of the forest utilizing shrubs as indicators, (2) to emphasize the value of employing shrubs in mapping mature forests, and (3) to lay a foundation upon which future studies may be made.
